Types of massage and when each is used
Sports massage
Designed for athletes before and after training or competition, as well as for anyone active who’s looking for faster recovery. It combines techniques that boost circulation, reduce the build-up of metabolic by-products and relax overworked muscles. It isn’t gentle — it’s done dynamically, with pressure adapted to the muscle group and the goal.
Therapeutic massage
Combines elements of manual therapy and classic massage. We use it when there’s a specific problem — tension in a particular muscle or muscle group, localised pain, stiffness that limits movement. The approach is targeted, not general.
Relaxation massage (classic)
Helps with stress, surface tension and a feeling of “heaviness” in the body. The techniques are light to medium, the pace is slow, and the goal is a parasympathetic response — lowering cortisol, relaxing and giving the mind a rest. It doesn’t treat structural problems, but as prevention and recovery it has clear value.
Anti-cellulite massage
Mechanical stimulation that affects circulation and lymphatic drainage in the subcutaneous tissue. Visible results require a series of sessions combined with physical activity and nutrition. At Via Fizio we see it as part of a bigger picture — not as an isolated cosmetic treatment.
Massage as part of a plan, not the only solution
For pain with a structural cause — a herniated disc, a muscle spasm pressing on a nerve, arthritis — massage alone provides only short-term relief. In those cases we use it to support other methods, not as the primary treatment.
If you’re not sure which type of massage suits your problem, come in for a check-up. We choose based on that.
