How tekar therapy works
Tekar therapy (TECAR — Transfer of Energy Capacitive and Resistive) uses high-frequency radiofrequency energy at 448 kHz that penetrates deep into the tissue and generates heat from the inside. Unlike classic heat treatments that warm the surface of the skin, tekar reaches muscles, tendons, joints and bone at depths of 3 to 10 cm.
There are two modes of operation that are combined during a single session:
Capacitive mode — works on soft tissue (muscle, fascia, subcutaneous tissue). Increases blood and lymph circulation, relaxes muscle spasm and reduces swelling.
Resistive mode — targets deeper, denser tissues: tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bone. Stimulates metabolism at the cellular level and speeds up regeneration of slow-healing tissue.
Conditions that respond well to tekar therapy
Sports injuries — strains, sprains, partial muscle and tendon tears. Tekar dramatically speeds up recovery and gets athletes back on the field sooner than classic treatment.
Arthrosis and stiff joints — hip, knee, shoulder, ankle. The deep heat improves blood flow to the cartilage and reduces morning stiffness and pain.
Tendinopathies — Achilles tendon, rotator cuff, patellar tendon. Tekar activates the biological healing processes in tendons that have become “stuck” in a chronic state.
Post-surgical rehabilitation — after knee surgery (e.g. ACL reconstruction), hip or shoulder surgery. Reduces swelling, speeds up tissue recovery and shortens the period of immobilization.
Neck and lower back pain — particularly in conditions accompanied by muscle spasm and restricted movement.
What you feel during the treatment
The treatment is pleasant. The patient feels a gradual warming of the treated area — similar to a warm compress, but from the inside. The therapist works with movements similar to massage, adjusting the intensity and speed throughout the session.
Unlike shockwave, tekar doesn’t cause discomfort. After the session the area stays warm and relaxed. Many patients describe a feeling of lightness and reduced pain immediately after the first session.
The standard series is 6–10 sessions, depending on the condition. Tekar is often combined with manual work or exercise as part of a complete recovery plan.
